British Standard BS 40101 Building performance evaluation of occupied and operational buildings
BSI have published a draft new British Standard for consultation, BS 40101 - Building performance evaluation of occupied and operational buildings.
This British Standard aims to support the mainstreaming of Building performance evaluation (BPE) to maximise opportunities for feedback and learning and drive improved performance of new and renovated/retrofitted buildings, accelerate the trajectory to net zero carbon (in operation) buildings, support and inform the energy system transition, and reduce waste and running costs.
CIBSE have promoted a focus on building performance for many years. Our technical team are on the drafting panel for this standard, which we see as an important step to develop a consistent approach to BPE.
The draft standard is available via BSI's standards development portal at https://standardsdevelopment.bsigroup.com/projects/2020-03334. Registration to the portal is required the first time, with a simple log in afterwards.
A pdf copy is available here.
The deadline for comments to BSI is 28 August 2021.
If you would like to contribute to the CIBSE response, please send your comments by Thursday 12 August to the technical team at JGodefroy@cibse.org
