Last month CIBSE’s Young Engineers Network (YEN) in WA organised a site tour of the new Perth Children’s Hospital. This was the first event the YEN committee held in the chapter and the event was a sell-out.

The facility is one of the most advanced building engineering project is Australia, according to the project director. The hospital includes automated guidance vehicles, central energy plant, reverse osmosis water treatment, automated pharmacy to list a few of the latest technologies in healthcare and demonstrates some of the capabilities of the building.

“The facility manager encouraged our engineers to push the boundaries and not just consider today’s technologies but what can be developed in the future when scoping and designing projects, which obviously aligns with CIBSE vision.”, commented Will Hayes, WA YEN Chair.

The month before, CIBSE Auckland YEN sold out its first ever technical seminar on Refrigeration Systems for Comfort Control in HVAC Systems.

Auckland YEN Chair, Jerrin Pius reported that “The presenter gave the attending students and young professionals an insight into refrigeration systems and their applications. He also shared modern technologies available to meet different clients, markets and environments.”

CIBSE ANZ’s Young Engineers Network is now established and running site tours, technical and social events in NSW, VIC, SA, WA and Auckland. The network aims to provide a forum & support network for all those in the development stages of their career, and is free to join.
