The course provides the delegate with an overview of energy benchmarking methods. It discusses Low and Zero Carbon Technologies that can be incorporated into an energy strategy plan whilst seeking to provide an understanding of how services, systems and their building contribute to their energy footprint. 

Learning Outcomes

At the successful completion of this course, the delegate will be able to: 

  • Be able to advise clients on the requirements and potential benefits of incorporating energy efficiency measures and Low & Zero Carbon technologies into new or existing buildings 
  • Have sufficient understanding to discuss the direction of future regulations and planning policy and the implications for projects 
  • Have a sufficient understanding of available measures, technologies and the key considerations and implications of each to advise clients and design teams 
  • Be able to undertake an energy study and understand the appropriate calculation methodologies, benchmarks and assumptions to apply  
  • Be able to prepare an energy strategy report

Siegfried is currently a Senior Lecturer in Building Services Engineering at School of the Built Environment and Architecture, London South Bank University (LSBU). Prior to joining LSBU, he was an Assistant Professor in Building Services Engineering/Building Physics at the University of Nottingham’s overseas campus in China. Siegfried has over 15 years research and teaching experience in Building Services Engineering. He has a PhD in Engineering (Sustainable Energy Technologies) from the University of Nottingham. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), qualified Advance HE External Examiner, a Chartered Engineer, and a Member of CIBSE (MCIBSE).

Remote - How to join: 

This course will be conducted live online via Microsoft Teams. You do not need a Microsoft Teams account. After finalising your booking, you will receive a confirmation email containing a link to join the session. 

You can join using your preferred web browser. Alternatively, if you have the Microsoft Teams desktop app installed, simply click 'join meeting' in the email to connect directly through the app. 

Face-to-Face: 

The course location will be listed below the corresponding date and included in your booking confirmation email, sent after your booking is finalised. Please arrive at the location 15 minutes before the start time. 

Note that face-to-face courses are not available online, so your in-person attendance is required.

Please be aware that parking is not available at the venue.
