Whether you're starting out, have been working in the field for many years, or are already Professionally Registered, our range of memberships means that there is a level to suit everyone.  Applications can be made online.

  • Student, Graduate and Affiliate grades require no assessment.
  • Licentiate, Associate, Member and Fellow grade applications include an assessment of your experience and can be accompanied by either IEng or CEng engineering registration depending on your academic qualifications, or equivalence.

Professional Membership and Registration

Looking for detailed requirements for a particular grade of membership?

CIBSE  e-guides provide application guidance including information on the process, different routes and details of the competence criteria. Applicants who meet the academic requirements may gain IEng or CEng registration, alongside their chosen grade of membership.

Professional Registration - Australia

CIBSE is an approved assessment entity in several states. Registration can be applied for via CIBSE as an Electrical or Mechanical Engineer.

CIBSE is currently applying to become an approved body with NSW Fair Trading (pathway 2) and will publish details of the scheme when approved.

Professional Membership and Registration Webinar - Australia and New Zealand

This webinar is specifically designed for Australian and New Zealand applicants, covering additional regional benefits, qualifying degrees via the Sydney and Washington accords mutual recognition via Engineers Australia and Engineering NZ. In addition, this presentation also explains CIBSE's assessment process for Engineering Registration with the Board of Professional Engineers Queensland (BPEQ).

 

Application Closing Dates

For those applying for LCIBSE, ACIBSE, MCIBSE or FCIBSE through the standard, alternative or experiential routes, your application will be processed four times a year.

If you apply by:

1 Dec – your interview will take place between Jan/Feb

1 Mar – your interview will take place between Apr/May

1 Jun – your interview will take place between Jul/Aug

1 Sept – your interview will take place between Oct/Nov
