Homes for the Future Group

CIBSE HFTF Group Banner

Housing currently (2023) accounts for circa 30% of the UK demand for gas and electricity. We will not achieve our decarbonisation goals if we do not take swift and effective action to minimise and decarbonise the energy we use in our new and existing homes. Whilst driving forwards with this goal we must not lose sight of the need to provide high quality healthy homes with good ventilation, comfortable temperatures, good lighting and good quality spaces that are fit for purpose.

The intention of Homes for the Future Special Interest Group (HFG) is to inform and promote best practice in building services when constructing or retrofitting homes. Created in 2010 the HFG has a membership of over 2300 from the UK and around the world.

Our committee represents the broad range of skills and disciplines that contribute to delivering homes including Policy Makers, Funding Bodies, Local and National Government, Academics, Consultants, Engineers, Housebuilders and Registered Social Landlords, Extra Care provides, and Contractors.
