Chair: Lizzy Pettitt, KLH Sustainability
Lizzy stepped up from general member to Vice Chair and now to Chair and is excited to continue to expand her CIBSE network. Lizzy recently achieved CEng thanks to the advice and support of the YEN network and looks forward to supporting other young engineers on their chartership journey!
Lizzy has a background in mechanical engineering and worked for an MEP contractor on site in her early career. Lizzy now works for KLH Sustainability, where she combines her knowledge of mechanical systems, complex buildings and passive design with technical abilities in energy and carbon modelling to advise on low carbon and energy efficient building design.
Vice-Chair: Zoe Dickson, SSE
Zoe is CIBSE YEN London's Vice-Chair for 24/25, having joined last year as a general member and served as the Events Coordinator for the first half of the year. After studying mechanical engineering with international study at the University of Strathclyde, she completed SSE's engineering graduate scheme in London and now works as a BEMS specialist in SSE's Smart Buildings team. Zoe is passionate about everything building controls, sustainability and promoting diversity in engineering.
Secretary: Megan Whitbread, Troup, Bywaters + Anders
Treasurer: Matt Dickenson, Atelier Ten
Matt is a Senior Engineer for Atelier Ten and has a passion for finding ways to help the built environment tread more lightly on the planet. He has a keen interest in optimising operational energy consumption of services, whilst still delivering a comfortable indoor environment for occupants. He believes the best way to achieve this is through collaboration and knowledge sharing, which is why he is also an active committee member for the CIBSE HVAC Group.
Comms Coordinator: Molly Behling, Hilson Moran
Molly Behling is the Communications Officer for CIBSE YEN London Region and a Graduate Design Engineer at Hilson Moran. She earned a BEng dual degree in Architecture and Environmental Engineering from UWE Bristol in 2023, motivated by a strong desire to promote and support the next generation of young engineers.
In her role as Communications Officer, Molly actively fosters the growth of aspiring engineers within the industry. She is dedicated to utilising her expertise in architecture and environmental engineering to champion innovative solutions that benefit upcoming projects and engineers alike. Additionally, Molly is preparing to pursue an MSc in Environmental Design and Engineering at UCL starting in September 2024, sponsored by Hilson Moran. She eagerly looks forward to highlighting how CIBSE YEN provides an exceptional network for students and young engineers alike.
General Member: Mathew Stark, Hoare Lea
Mat was the Chair of CIBSE YEN London Region and a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Hoare Lea but with his exciting move to Bristol has step down from the position and will be supporting the committee from afar.
He graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering from Exeter University, Mat's passion lies in designing efficient and sustainable solutions that positively impact various projects. Since joining Hoare Lea in 2019, Mat has fostered a deep appreciation for innovative mechanical engineering solutions.
With a desire to support the growth of aspiring engineers, Mat joined the CIBSE YEN London committee in 2020 to actively engage with the network. Embracing opportunities to organize networking events and facilitate skill-building initiatives, Mat aims to foster a collaborative environment where young engineers can thrive. As Chair, Mat is thrilled to engage with the network and continue its mission to empower young engineers, promote excellence, and drive positive change in the industry.
General Member: Hiba Talmoust, Waterman Group
Hiba has joined the CIBSE YEN London committee as a graduate and is now a member for the third year. She works at Waterman Group has a Net Zero and Sustainability Consultant focusing. Alongside her consultant role, Hiba is also a PhD candidate with the University of Exeter, research a model to formulate strategies to retrofit building to Net Zero levels.
General Member: Tom Sutherland, Wates
Tom has been a member of CIBSE since 2016 when joining as a student and engaged with the young engineers network in Newcastle throughout university. After graduation he relocated to London and joined Wates Construction in their building services team in January 2021. Whilst gaining great experience working on various large scale projects across London, Tom has spent the past few years working on his professional development, and achieved his ACIBSE IEng status in 2023. Tom has recently joined as a general member of the CIBSE YEN committee with an interest in improving engagement of young engineers working in the industry, with a focus on getting more contractors to be involved in professional development of future generations.
General Member: Mia Richardson, Schneider Electric
Mia has joined as a general member this year and works as an Energy Consultant for Schneider Electric. Prior to this, she was a BMS project engineer for 2 years following the Schneider Electric graduate scheme. She graduated from Leeds University with an MEng in Mechanical Engineering in 2020. She has joined CIBSE YEN this year to connect with other engineers with similar interests and ambitions and to help build an exciting and innovative culture in our sector. She is passionate about working together to decarbonise new and existing buildings alongside developing energy efficient solutions.
General Member: Gabriela Amaya, KJ Tait
Gabbi has joined as a general member this year after moving from Edinburgh to London. She graduated from Heriot Watt University with an MEng in Architectural Engineering in 2021. She has joined CIBSE YEN this year to connect with other engineers about the work we are doing and insights about the industry. She is currently volunteering with LETI and UKGBC on some projects mainly to do with Retrofit and is passionate about collaborative working to help the industry achieve their targets.
General Member: Jonny Betts, Mitsubishi Electric
Jonny is an applications engineer at Mitsubishi Electric, based in Waterloo. He has a passion in improving the quality of the built environment in the UK and help the industry reduce carbon emissions. After completing his Masters in Mechanical Engineering at QUB Belfast, he gained experience as a consultant in the industry. Now, working with Mitsubishi Electric, he has specialised in the efficient use of heat pumps and chillers and helps consultants use them in the most efficient ways possible, reducing the consumption and emissions of our future buildings. Also part of the CIBSE HVAC group, he is always eager to gain knowledge from industry experts and learn how manufacturers can help improve the industry.
General Member: Mihrabe El-fatih, KHL Sustainability
Mihrabe has recently started her role at KLH Sustainability as a Sustainability advisor after completing her graduate program at Buro Happold. She has a background of Civil Engineering and completed her Masters 2 years ago at Brunel University. Mihrabe has joined CIBSE YEN this year to continue her journey within built environment. Mihrabe is passionate about passive house design and the decarbonisation of the construction industry. She continues to develop her technical skills in this field whilst also keen on developing her network. Her aim is to get involved in helping to make the CIBSE events fun, interactive and engaging.
General Member: Billy (Isabel) Bagnoli, Laing O'Rourke – Crown House Technologies
Billy is proud to be a Building Services Engineering apprentice at the principal contractor Laing O'Rourke. She have not specialised in a particular discipline however enjoys working on the interfaces between systems and their respective components. She is also passionate about increasing the recruitment and retention of underrepresented groups in construction engineering.
General Member: Aashika Shibu, Etude
Aashika is an Environmental Consultant at Etude, based in Angel after graduating in MSc Environmental Design and Engineering from UCL. Prior to that, she was based in Dubai where she worked as an architect across a wide range of exciting projects from large scale master planning to commercial towers in its early stage design. She is passionate about creating sustainable built environments, decarbonisation and retrofits to mitigate climate change, and has been involved in various sustainability initiatives, projects and groups in the Middle East. Aashika joined the CIBSE YEN London Group this year as a General Member and is looking forward to networking with like minded engineers within the YEN community.

General Member: Hannah Ireland, Waterman Group
Hannah is a sustainability consultant at Waterman Group in London. She joined this role in May 2024 and prior to this worked in Belfast at BPP as a sustainability engineer since August 2021. She studied at Queen’s University Belfast achieving a masters in Environmental Engineering and qualified as a CIBSE Low Carbon Energy Assessor in the autumn of 2023. Hannah is passionate about sustainability and working on low carbon solutions. She joined the YEN this year to connect with other young engineers and to help run successful events for CIBSE.
